Powers and Duties of the Board of Trustees

Bylaws Article 4

a) To adopt and publish rules and regulations governing the use of the Common area, lots and facilities, and the personal conduct of the members and their guests thereon and to establish penalties and/or rules violation charges for the infraction thereof.

b) To adopt an annual budget to provide for the care, maintenance, preservation of the properties and to provide for services for the members which shall form the basis of the monthly maintenance charge assessed against the owners.

c) To collect, enforce and establish the means of enforcement of the covenants, rules and payment of the maintenance charge and other charges assessed against the lots and members.

d) To accelerate and declare due the monthly maintenance charge for the remainder of the fiscal year after notice and upon default of a payment of any one-month's installment of the annual maintenance charge.

e) To assess late charges or other charges for any payment not received by the fifteenth (15th) of the month in the amount of $10 or such other amount as the Board of Trustees may determine by resolution. the returned check charge shall be $35 unless otherwise determined by resolution of the Board of Trustees.

f) To assess interest at the greater of 10% or the maximum legal rate of interest from the date due until paid for any amount due to the Council which is not paid when due.

g) To impose rules violation charges in an amount not to exceed $10 per day for a continuing violation or $50 for a one time violation (or such amounts as are allowed by law) of the covenants; rules or regulations after at least ten (10 days notice by first class mail of an opportunity to be heard before the Board of Trustees or its designated committee. Such charges shall be treated as an assessment pursuant to Section 55-516 of the Virginia Property Owners' Association Act.

Georgetown South Community Council, Inc. is governed by a Board of Trustees elected for two-year terms at an annual meeting. The following home owners are currently serving as trustees:
